2 Hurt in Bleacher Collapse at High School Baseball Game

At least two people have been injured after a partial bleacher collapse at a high school baseball game in Trumbull on Friday.

Trumbull police and firefighters responded to Trumbull High School at 72 Strobel Road just before 5 p.m. Friday.

According to the Trumbull fire marshal, a bleacher holding between 30 and 40 spectators collapsed during a game between Fairfield Warde High and Trumbull High School.

Witnesses said the spectators were chanting and jumping on the bleachers when it collapsed.

One person was taken to the hospital to be evaluated and a second person sought medical attention from a family doctor, according to officials.

The game continued while people were being treated.

Warde won the game 5-1.
