Two Meriden Cops Struck at DWI Checkpoint

Two Meriden police officers were injured when a driver struck them at a DWI checkpoint.

Two Meriden police officers were struck by drunk driver during a DWI checkpoint on East Main St. in Meriden at 2:00 a.m. Saturday.

Detective Robert Milslagle and Detective Joseph Robison were removing a warning sign in the right turning lane when they were hit.

Witnesses tell police the driver swerved from the center lane to the right turning lane and hit the officers. Milsagle and Robison were taken to Hartford Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Zynia Alvarez, 25, of West Haven, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and two counts of assault with a motor vehicle. She is being held on a $250,000 bond.
