Two Snow Plow Trucks Taken in Watertown

It's not uncommon to see plow truck drivers roam the streets of Connecticut this time of year, but Watertown police said when surveillance video caught two trucks driving by Tuesday night - thieves were behind the wheel.

"They were scoping the area out. There's footprints coming from the woods in the snow," said Collin Sieracki, owner of Evergreen Lawn and Landscape.

Sieracki said less than thirty minutes after he and a friend parked the two trucks, they were gone. More than $50,000 worth of equipment moved South on Main Street, heading towards Waterbury.

Both of the vehicles are gray 2005 Ford F350s with the company logo on the front door and Fisher X-blade plows on the front. One of the trucks had a Fisher Poly Cast sander in the bed. The license plates are CT 3256CR and CT K30568.

Watertown police said the keys were hidden in the area of the trucks, so it's clear the thieves knew what to look for.

"We're unsure if the suspects observed the vehicles being parked before they were stolen or if they knew how the company operated," said Detective Mark Conway with Watertown Police.

"I couldn't be mad," said Sieracki. "It was more of a feeling like violated. I put a lot of pride into my trucks, my business. This is really my life."

Sieracki said he started mowing lawns in middle school and continued growing his business from there. Now instead of having four trucks for the work, he's down to two.

"I would really love to have these trucks back. I need them for my customers, myself, and to make a living," said Sieracki.

Sieracki said he's offering a thousand dollar reward for information leading to a conviction and the return of his trucks.
