Teen Killed, Man Injured in Hartford Double Shooting

A 19-year-old man has died after being shot in the head in Hartford.

Police responded to 7 Cherry Street around 10:16 p.m. Wednesday and found a 19-year-old man lying near the entrance to the home with a gunshot wound in his head. The victim was later identified as Ricardo Rivera of Madison Street in Hartford.

Medics rushed him to St. Francis, where he was placed on life support. On Friday, he was pronounced deceased.

A second man was also injured in Wednesday’s shooting. Police say minutes after Rivera was found, a 23-year-old man arrived at St. Francis Hospital in a private vehicle. He had a gunshot wound to the torso and said he’d been shot by 7 Cherry Street as well. Police said his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. That victim has not been identified.

Detectives from Hartford Major Crimes and the Hartford Shooting Task Force are investigating.
