SOUTH BEND, Ind. - UConn had a pass intercepted in the end zone, had two touchdowns called back on holding penalties and missed a field goal at the end of regulation, but the Huskies were able to overcome all of that to defeat the struggling Irish in South Bend Saturday, 33-30 in double overtime for the biggest win in the school's history.

Coming off two straight losses, Charlie Weis was already on the hot seat for Notre Dame, but that hot seat just got a little hotter as the Irish blew a late 20-17 lead late in the fourth quarter.

UConn tied things up at 20-20 with 1:10 remaining in regulation. With 49 seconds left, the Irish's Armando Allen fumbled a screen pass, giving the ball back to the Huskies. Andre Dixon busted through for an 18-yard gain, but with three seconds remaining, Dave Teggart missed a 37-yard field goal forcing overtime.
