A 54-year-old Vernon man was arrested on Tuesday, accused of operating a drug factory out of his Vernon home.

Members of the East Central Narcotics Task Force searched 37 Oxbow Drive in Vernon after
developing information that marijuana was being grown there, police said.

Task force officers arrested Jay Karliner and seized marijuana growing equipment, four marijuana plants, about one pound of harvested marijuana, packaging and other drug paraphernalia. 

Task force members also seized three rifles and two handguns from the residence. A juvenile was living in the residence and the state Department of Children and Families will be notified, according to police.

Karliner was charged with possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, cultivation of marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drugs within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school and risk of injury.
        
Bond was set at $25,000 non-surety and Karliner is due in court on Oct. 9.
