Rockville High School Principal Eric Baim will appear in court on Friday after being charged earlier this month with operating under the influence.

On July 13, police pulled Baim over in Berlin and charged him with failure to obey a traffic control signal and operating under the influence. According to police, Baim’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

He is currently on administrative leave and the Vernon Board of Education has recommended that he not be terminated.

Dean Houle, chairman of the board of education, said that Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway presented the board with a disciplinary plan that included terminating Baim.

The board rejected that plan and asked Conway to come up with a new disciplinary plan that did not involve terminating Baim.

Conway will present the new plan to the board during an August 14 meeting.
