Hours before a Windsor Locks man was killed, he helped the neighbor police say killed him.
Stephen Anderson, 24, has been charged with murder in the killing of a neighbor, Danny Lefebvre, 26, on Friday morning. He was arrested Sunday afternoon, arraigned on Monday and is being held on $1 million bond. He is due back in court on Oct. 13.
Anderson is unemployed, court officials said, and he has a criminal record. He was on probation for assault when Lefebvre was killed, court officials said. He also has five violation of probation convictions, two convictions out of Massachusetts and pending charges for third-degree larceny and DWI.
According to the medical examiner, Lefebvre died of blunt traumatic injury and asphyxiation and his death was ruled a homicide.
Anderson's stepfather, Arnold Mercey,told the Hartford Courant that Lefebvre was injured on Thursday afternoon when he tried to break up a fight between two pit bulls, and Anderson helped him bandage his knee.
Mercey also told the Courant that Lefebvre "had a good buzz" but offered to take Mercey, his wife, and Anderson out for drinks to thank them for helping him. Just after midnight, Mercey heard a commotion on Pleasant Street, and said he saw someone slamming Lefebvre's head into the street.
Police declined to released details of the allegations.
Anderson is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Enfield Superior Court. He was held in lieu of $1 million bond after being.
