Vigil Held for Missing Mass. Boy

A New Britain father continues to pray in hopes of a reunion with his five-year-old son.

Jose Oliver held a prayer vigil on Oak Street in New Britain Saturday night with a group of supporters. Candles were lit next to a picture of Jeremiah Oliver with a message begging for his safe return home. Jose hopes some attention will bring leads so his son can be found.

Early this month Massachusetts Police say they discovered Jeremiah had been missing since September from his Fitchburg, Massachusetts home.

Those close to Jeremiah's dad and those who had never met him before but heard about his sad story on the news came out to help. Family and friends held signs and handed out fliers to passing cars for hours.

Jeremiah's mother, Elsa Oliver, and her boyfriend, Alberto Luis Sierra, were arrested for child abuse after authorities say Jeremiah's seven-year-old sister went to a school counselor saying Sierra was beating them up. When police arrived, they were unable to locate Jeremiah, and they say Sierra and Oliver aren't talking.

Jose says Jeremiah was born in New Britain. He believes someone knows something and held the prayer vigil to try and get answers.

"To let people know that I haven't lost hope. I want people to know that I'm doing everything I can in my power to find Jeremiah," said Jose.

Family and friends continue to search for Jeremiah back in Massachusetts. Jose says he'll search for answers for as long as it takes.
