WCSU chemistry professor Paul S. Hines, 73, is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old from New York. Police say the two met online.
A 73-year-old chemistry professor at Western Connecticut State University is facing charges after police say he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old from New York.
Paul S. Hines, of Danbury, was arrested and charged with third-degree sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said Hines met the 15-year-old victim online and traveled to Somers, N.Y., to meet at the victim's home. That's where the sexual assault took place, according to police.
The Danbury Patch reports that Hines has been a professor at WCSU since 1968 and has been a coordinator at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House, a homeless shelter in Danbury, since 1982.
"We're concerned," WCSU spokesperson Paul Steinmetz told the Patch.
Hines was arraigned in Somers and is being held at the Westchester County Jail, according to police.
