Walmart workers across the state participated in a nationwide walkout on the busiest shopping day of the year.

Beginning at 11 a.m., members of the New England Health Care Workers Union walked out of their jobs at the mega retailer after issues over salary, affordable health care and respect from their employers were unresolved.

In October, more than 70 workers at a number of Los Angeles-based Wal-Mart stores walked off the job, causing a ripple effect in the organization.

Worker protests took place at Walmart stores in Hartford, Danbury, Milford and Norwalk.
