Warrant Details Torrington Statutory Rape Charges

An arrest warrant says one of four Torrington High School football players charged with statutory rape knew the 13-year-old victim and had multiple sexual encounters with her.

The newly released warrant says the 17-year-old boy denies having sexual contact with the girl and has told police that he's willing to take a lie detector test. The Republican-American of Waterbury obtained the warrant on Thursday.

The boy is named in the warrant, but the newspaper withheld his identity pending a hearing later this month to determine if his case will be heard in juvenile court or adult court. Juvenile court proceedings are secret.

Four players are charged with sexual assault in cases involving two 13-year-old girls, who have been taunted on the Internet by the player's supporters.
