A water main break on Main Street in busy downtown Hartford is expected to affect the evening commute.
There was a break in an 8-inch fire service line to the Gold Building in the area of 755 Main Street this morning and it is so close to the 16-inch water main in the street that the main itself will have to be shut down to do the repairs, according to the MDC.
No one will be affected by the shutdown.
The water service itself should be restored between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. tonight.
The fire service repair should be complete between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., and the temporary road and sidewalk restoration should be done between 10 p.m. and midnight, followed by full restoration of the road and sidewalk.
MDC said they do not anticipate any impact on the morning rush.
To get around the area, use Prospect, Market, Trumbull or Jewell streets.
