Water Main Break Closes Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill

The Silas Deane Highway is shut down near the Wethersfield/Rocky Hill town line due to a water main break, according to Rocky Hill police.

Police say the break is located near the intersection of the Silas Deane Highway and Town Line Road and was first reported at 6:50 p.m. Saturday. Crews are on scene now working to repair the break and water service was shut down around 8:50 p.m., according to Metropolitan District spokeswoman Kerry Martin. Martin says this was a 12-inch water main that was installed in 1963.

Several homes and business in both Wethersfield and Rocky Hill are affected by the break. MDC estimates that repairs will take between six to eight hours and water service will be restored sometime between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday morning.
