Missing Boater's Body Recovered

A second day of searching turned up nothing in Lake Housatonic.

The State Police Dive team recovered the body of a boater Sunday morning days after he went missing on Lake Housatonic.

The body of Richard Fiske, 75, was recovered after a person on a conoe spotted an object  under water in the lake and called 911.

Fiske of Woodbridge, signed a boat out from the New Haven Rowing Club at 407 Roosevelt Drive in Oxford on Monday morning, according to police.  He  was last seen around 10:30 a.m.

On Monday, crews were dispatched to Indian Well State Park in Shelton for a report of a capsized boat at Lake Housatonic on the river.

Someone called police to report that a rowing scull was found capsized in the river, but there was no sign of the man. Police believe the man fell off his boat.

A search has been ongoing for several days since Fiske disappeared from the boat. with D.E.E.P. EnCon police officers and the police search and rescue dogs on board searching the water.

Police from Oxford and Seymour set up command posts along the lake from the rowing club to the Derby Dam.

Fiske's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
