Waterbury Fire Causing Road Closures

Firefighters are battling a fire at a vacant apartment building on Bishop Street in Waterbury that broke out late on Sunday night and roads remain closed on Monday morning.

The fire at 331 Bishop Street broke out after 11 p.m., officials said.

The building is under renovation and the fire spread rapidly. It was well-involved when the fire department arrived, officials said, and firefighters had to fight the fire from the outside because fire was so heavy.

No injuries are reported.

The fire marshal will investigate in the morning.

Bishop Street is closed between Pine and Hopkins streets. Motorists should use Cooke Street instead.
