Waterbury Students Celebrate Those Who Have Served on Take a Veteran to School Day

Military service veterans visited Duggan Elementary School in Waterbury on Tuesday after students invited them to Take a Veteran to School Day

Two volunteers helped Mike Fagan show proper etiquette for the flag, making a connection between students and veterans.

"This is something! Very touching!" veteran Rodney Davis, wearing his Army sergeant dress uniform, told the students.

He is the husband of a secretary at the school. At one point during the event, he asked the students to stand up if they know a veteran.

"I think they learned a lesson, to appreciate people that are veterans," Principal Patricia Frageau said. "And I think all of these children know somebody that’s a vet, and I think it’s important that they take the time out and to think about - I think it was a very good program for them."
