West Hartford Police Arrest Suspected Car Burglar

Police arrested a suspected car burglar in West Hartford last night and found him in possession of these tools, commonly used in break-ins.

A Hartford man is under arrest after police say he broke into and stole from several cars in West Hartford.

Police arrested 49-year-old Gregory Carter, of Collins Street in Hartford, early Saturday morning after neighbors reported a supicious person walking up and down driveways on Fern Street and Farnham Road, authorities said.

Police said they arrived to find Carter in the backyard of a home on Lilley Road. He had had thrown some of the recently stolen items onto nearby lawns, which police said were taken from unlocked cars.

Carter had a duffel bag containing tools that are commonly used in burglaries, police said.

He was arrested and taken into police custody. Charges are pending.
