West Haven police are warning residents of an iPhone thief who approaches victims on the street and asks for directions.

According to police, the suspect, described as a black woman between the ages of 20 and 25, has approached two individuals in the area of Terrace Avenue and asked them to check Google Maps to help her find an address.

Police said the suspect then snatched the phones from the victims’ hands, got into a blue four-door Volkswagon and fled.

West Haven police are advising residents to be careful. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 203-937-3900.
