Imagine getting $100,000 a year for the next five years. It’s an amazing prize one Westport woman received and she got the award just for being a genius!

Staples High School graduate and photojournalist Lynsey Addario is among two dozen recipients of the “genius awards," as reported in Westport Now.com. The winners will be announced Tuesday by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

According to the New York Times, the $500,000 prize comes with no strings attached.

Addario, 35, is now based in Turkey and her photos have graced the pages of National Geographic and The New York Times.

Addario’s work in war-torn countries also appeared in the Times’ 2009 Pulitzer Prize won by a team of International Reporting.

According to the Times, her snapshots were part of the coverage of the war in Afghanistan for The New York Times Magazine cover article "Talibanistan", on Sept 7, 2008.
