Wethersfield Grad Gives Most Entertaining Graduation Speech Ever

Wethersfield High School graduate Gregory Corning’s graduation address was not really a speech, it was a musical medley to the class of 2014’s four years in high school. It's one you will definitely want to see.

“I wondered what the most popular songs from each of our years in high school would sound like if their lyrics were actually about the lives of WHS students,” he said in video that has since been posted on YouTube.

The talented student made the songs about his classmates by changing the words to Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.,” to “Freshman Year, Turned Out OK,” about what it was like to start fresh at a brand new school.

He rewrote Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” as “Oh, Sophomore Year.” One of the lyrics was: “We finally learned the power of those three words – girls, girls, girls."

Then, he altered Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” to be about taking SATs, getting a driver’s license and touring colleges.

Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” was about their own wrecking ball -- the school renovation. He finished up with his own versions of Lorde’s “Royals,” about post-high school plans and One Direction’s “Story of My Life” with “Stories of Our Lives at WHS.”

Corning's speech might be more memorable than he expected. It has more than 3,000 views and is sure to get many more since people began sharing it through social media.

He is heading to Notre Dame in the fall and we certainly look forward to seeing what he comes up with next.
