When and Where to Get a Glimpse of Fall Foliage in Connecticut

The vibrant fall colors are on display in parts of Connecticut and you’ll see the beauty spread to more of the state over the next few weeks.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection estimated that peak color would be between Oct. 5 and Nov. 8 and the fall foliage report on the DEEP site shows where and when to go to see fall foliage.

Northern Connecticut is at the peak of fall foliage, while much of southern Connecticut will be at the peak over the next couple of weeks. See the week-by-week report here.

DEEP recommends visiting the following eight state parks and forests for fall foliage and spectacular views:

  1. Cobble Mountain at Macedonia Brook State Park in Kent
  2. Mohawk State Forest in Cornwall
  3. Mt. Misery Overlook at Pachaug State Forest in Voluntown
  4. Chaugnam Lookout at Peoples State Forest in Barkhamsted
  5. Observation Tower at Shenipsit State Forest in Somers
  6. Heublein Tower at Talcott Mountain State Park in Simsbury
  7. Mt. Tom State Park in Litchfield
  8. Dennis Hill State Park in Norfolk

The DEEP site has recommendations on fall foliage drives as well as hikes for places to take in the view
