Torrington's hit the seventh inning stretch as the city awaits word about the future of a baseball team.
A group called "Our Baseball Haven" has been trying to bring collegiate baseball back to Torrington and gave the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League a deadline of 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 to make a decision, the Register Citizenreports.
Our Baseball Haven has been working around the clock, trying to drum up support to bring a team to Torrington and selling season passes.
Brett Orzechowski, spokesman for OBH, sent an e-mail to members, explaining his group’s position, the Register Citizen says
“The partners of OBH believe we have submitted the most cost-effective and logical solution to appease all owners and board members to gain admittance and bring collegiate summer league baseball back to Torrington,” he wrote.
The hope is that OBH can buy the Peekskill Robins and baseball will return for the first time since the Torrington Twisters left the city for New Bedford, Massachusetts.
