Willimantic Police Investigate Home Invasion

Willimantic police are investigating after a woman was assaulted during an early morning home invasion Sunday.

Police said it happened around 4:30 a.m. Three women were in a home on Jackson Street when two male suspects entered and demanded cash, according to police.

One of the victims dialed 911 from her bedroom closet, according to police. By the time police arrived the suspects had already fled.

One of the residents was assaulted, but police said her injuries were minor and she was not transported to the hospital. The victim's family said she is shaken.

"They came in and they just held her down, they put a pillow case over her head," the victim's cousin, April Vazquez said. "She told them take whatever you want, just please don't hurt me."

Neighbors who live below are also on alert, and say they never heard a sound.

"I didnt' hear anything going upstairs, I didn't hear anybody screaming. All I heard was my father-in-law saying there are two guys upstairs, get up, get up, get up," Jenn White said.

Police said this appears to be a random incident and that there is no immediate danger to the public. They say residents should practice normal vigilence and lock doors, windows and cars.

Anyone with information on this incident should call the Willimantic Patrol and Detective Division at 860 465 3135.
