Willimantic Swat Team Called for Barricaded Man

The Willimantic Swat team was called after a man barricaded himself in his home early Saturday morning.

According to Willimantic Corporal Stan Parizo, the swat team was called to Emerald Ave. around 4 a.m. after it was reported that a man had barricaded himself inside his home and was threatening to harm himself.

Police ordered a shelter in place for residents in the area while they worked to diffuse the situation.

Corporal Parizo says the situation was over in about two hours, after the Swat Team was able to make entrance into the home and take the man to Windham Hospital for treatment,

The shelter in place was cancelled for residents in the area at 6:15 a.m.

Parizo says that he is "thankful for the great outcome" and the hard work of all officers involved.
