A Windsor resident has run in all the Hartford marathons
On Oct. 12, Andrew Bartlett will be joining 5,000 other people for the 20th running of the Hartford Marathon.
The 46-year-old Windsor native has taken part in the race every year since it started in 1993.
"It's just nice to be able to do something you love," Bartlett said. "What's not to like? A beautiful fall day, where you can run through South Windsor and Hartford and parts of East Hartford? It's really fun."
Bartlett has watched the race grow over the years.
"The marathon is way bigger than it was and there are great athletes who come here," he said.
Bartlett hopes to finish the 26.2-mile race in less than three hours.
"It's totally about the experience," Bartlett said. "I won't come close to winning."
The avid runner said it's always a struggle to cross the finish line.
"I think it's continuing to find out more about myself, and find a way to get through the entire marathon without stopping," he said.
No matter how long it takes him to finish, Bartlett said he's looking forward to being a part of the Hartford Marathon experience.
"It's more of a social event than it is about racing. Once a year, I get to participate with 5,000 other people, and I think that's pretty neat," he said.
