Woman Accused of Driving Getaway Car Arrested

Police charged Bridgette Tregaskis in connection with the theft of a cash register.

A 23-year-old Plainfield woman accused of driving the getaway car after a man stole a cash register from National Food Mart on March 21 was arrested on Thursday afternoon.

The mug shot of Bridgette Tregaskis police released on Thursday  shows a tattoo on her chest that says “Hard to live Easy to die.”

Police said the crime happened at the food mart on Railroad Avenue in Plainfield around 10 p.m. on March 21.

The man who stole the register ran to a car waiting on Babcock Avenue, police said.  

While fleeing the scene, Tregaskis and the man tossed the cash register out of the vehicle into the woods off exit 88 on-ramp of Interstate 395, police said. Officers were able to locate it.

When police interviewed Tregaskis, she gave detailed information on the incident but accused an innocent person, police said.

Police arrested Tregaskis at noon on Thursday. She was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the second degree, larceny in the second degree, hindering prosecution in the third degree, interfering with a police officer and false statement in the second degree.

Tregaskis was held at the Plainfield Police Department on a $50,000 bond and will be presented at the Danielson Superior Court on Friday.

An arrest warrant is pending for the male suspect.
