Woman Attacked and Sexually Assaulted at Gunpoint

Suffield and State Police are investigating after discovering a women that had been beaten and sexually assaulted in her home in Suffield late Friday night.

Police received a 911 call around midnight and immediately responded to a home on Thrall Avenue.

When they arrived, they were unable to get a response from inside the home.

Police forced their way inside after looking through the window and seeing a woman lying on the floor.

She was wounded and terrified when police located her, police said.

The victim told police that a man she did not know sexually assaulted her.

The intruder knocked on the door twice and asked for money, the victim said. Hours later, he entered the house through a back door, the victim told police. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries. She was alert and talking with detectives.

The victim described the assailant as 6-feet-tall to 6-feet-2, muscular and between 25 and 40 years old.

He was wearing a gray hoodie covered by a red flannel shirt, jeans, workboots, a ski mask and black gloves.

The intruder also had a gun.

Police said on Sunday that they believe this is an isolated incident and do not think it was a random act.
