Woman Charged After Pedestrian Hit, Killed on Sidewalk

A driver was charged in connection with the death of a Yale-New Haven Hospital employee who was struck and killed as she stood on a sidewalk in New Haven and her case has been continued to June 6.

A police source said Agnese Izzo was arrested and online court documents state there is a felony misconduct with a motor vehicle charge and Izzo has not entered a plea.

Izzo had been driving up to 13 miles per hour above the 25-miles-per-hour speed limit when she hit and killed 42-year-old Melissa Tancredi of Waterbury in January, according to police.

Authorities have said Izzo was in a left turn only lane but continued straight and onto the sidewalk.

Her attorney said Izzo tried to help Tancredi at the scene.
