Emelie Hall, 22, is accused of trying to stab an officer with a pair of needle-nose pliers during a traffic stop Monday.
A 22-year-old woman is accused of trying to stab a Newington police officer during a traffic Monday morning.
Police stopped Emelie Hall on East Cedar Street around 7 a.m. Monday. Hall's license was suspened and the registration on her vehicle had expired according police.
When the officer told Hall her car was being towed, police said she became agressive and emotional. As she was gathering items from inside the car, Hall grabbed a pair of needle-nose pliers and attempted to stab another officer who had arrived on the scene as a back up, according to police. The officer was able to disarm Hall and arrest her. Hall then tried to bite the officer, but didn't succeed, police said.
The officer sustained a minor injury from the needle nose pliers, but was otherwise alright.
Hall is charged with assault on a police officer, criminal attempt to commit assault on a police officer and interfering with a police officer.
She was held on $5,000 bond.
