Woman Found Passed Out With 3 Young Children in Car: Police

A Norwich woman was arrested after she was found passed out behind the wheel of a car in New London with three young children inside, according to police.

New London police responded to Spring Street just before 5 p.m. Thursday after receiving a 911 call about a woman passed out behind the wheel of a motor vehicle with children in the vehicle.

The car was idling and officers found 26-year-old Cassidy Moniz, of Norwich, passed out in the driver's seat, police said.

When Narcan was administered, Moniz became responsive. She was then brought to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

The children in the car ranged in age from 1 to 6 years and were transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Moniz has been charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor and possession of marijuana.

Police said they did not find any other narcotics at the scene and toxicology and medical report analysis is pending.

The state Department of Children and Families is assisting with the investigation.
