West Haven police have arrested a man who they said was naked and high when he assaulted a woman, who was then struck by a car, on Monday afternoon.
Police found Lawrence Jones, 47, in the area of 78 Homeside Ave. after receiving several 911 calls at 1:20 p.m. reporting that a naked man was attacking a female.
The woman was struck by a car as Jones chased her, police said, and they found her lying on the street.
Several witnesses also told police they saw Jones hit a 9- year-old girl in the face who was trying to help her mother during the assault.
When police responded, Jones was combative and under the influence of some sort of narcotic, they said.
Jones did not comply with officer’s orders and police shot him with a stun gun, police said.
The people involved were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries.
Jones, of 78 Homeside Ave., was arrested at 7:04 p.m. and charged with two counts of assault in the third degree, risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct.
He was held at the West Haven Police Department and is due in court on Tuesday.
Bond was set at $25,000.
