Dust off your skis and snowboards, it's not even Thanksgiving but Woodbury Ski Area has opened for the 2010-2011 winter season.

The mountain started making snow on Wednesday night and just 24 hours later, it was ready to welcome winter sports enthusiasts.

The ski area has been the first to open in the East the past four years, according to their website. This year, it's the first of Connecticut's four ski resorts to open its slopes.

If downhill skiing and tubing aren't for you, Woodbury also offers snow tubing, cross country skiing and skateboarding. The resort will have two lifts and a new terrain park open Thursday and through the weekend.

You can head to the ski area's website for more information on hours, lessons and rates -- and for the live snow cam.
