When Brian Ellis got to a hangar at JFK early this morning he didn't know quite what he'd find.
He knew that inside were two pieces of steel from the World Trade Center in New York, destroyed nearly ten years ago in the Sept. 11, 2001 attack.
What he didn't know was that on one of the pieces "FDNY" had been painted.
"That's awesome," said Ellis, a lieutenant for Enfield Fire District 2. "It means it was put there by a 'Brother' during the search after the towers fell.
Ellis transported the steel back to Enfield Thursday.
This particular steel will go into the firehouse's memorial garden. It's buried in snow at the moment and design is still in the works.
