Would-Be Thief Fails at Car Sale: Cops

KXAS

A suspect in a bungled theft was nabbed while trying to sell the getaway car, police said.

An accused would-be thief is not very successful at thievery and it seems he’s not a great car salesman either.

On Tuesday afternoon, a man tried unsuccessfully to hold up a pharmacy in Hamden and took off. Police put out a description on his truck, starting the search for and old Toyota, the New Haven Register reports.

Police said they found it at The Doctor Complete Auto Service on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard as the man was trying to sell it for $1,500 to $1,800 – far more than it was worth, the Register reports.

“He pulls in. He’s in his Toyota truck. He asks, ‘You buy cars? I want to sell my truck,’” a car salesman told the Register. The salesman directed the man to pull into a space near the street next to several cars that were for sale. They spoke for about 10 to 15 minutes, but the conversation ended when, several police cars arrived and police grabbed the suspect, the Register reports, citing the salesman.
