Yard Goats infielder Ryan McMahon got the call all Double-A ball players want to get. McMahon headed out west and will now be playing for the Rockies' Triple-A team, the Albuquerque Isotopes, Yard Goats spokesman Jeff Dooley confirmed.
McMahon spent the beginning of the 2017 season and the full 2016 season playing for the Hartford Yard Goats. In the 2017 season with Hartford, McMahon hit .326 with six home runs and 32 RBI.
After struggling some during the 2016 season, McMahon certainly got into a groove with the team in its inaugural season at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
McMahon, 22, was well liked among his fellow Goats, who wish him lots of success at the next level.
"He's a great teammate," starting pitcher Ryan Castellani said. "He has an extremely positive mindset about baseball. He's a good guy in the clubhouse to have...I love watching him."
McMahon is often listed on scouting sites as one of the top 10 propsects in the Rockies' organization. He's had the chance to start around the infield at first, second and third base. He started his last games for the Goats at third base.
McMahon has been in the Rockies' farm system since 2013 when he was drafted in the second round. He is originally from Orange County, California.
