Zika Awareness Campaign Unveiled at Bradley International

Connecticut officials have kicked off a Zika virus awareness campaign at Bradley International Airport.

The educational initiative includes posters warning passengers on flights to Puerto Rico that travelers to the American tropics are at risk for mosquito-borne diseases, including Zika.

The posters are printed in English and Spanish and advise how to avoid mosquito bites.

Other posters warn returning travelers about Zika symptoms and advise seeking treatment if those symptoms arise.

The campaign, which was announced on Thursday, is a joint effort between the Connecticut Department of Public Health, Connecticut Airport Authority, federal Transportation Security Administration and JetBlue, which has two daily flights to San Juan from the Windsor Locks airport.

Additional information about Zika will be provided to passengers as they board and public service announcements will be shown in screening areas.
