Police have identified the man shot and killed near 153 Adams Street in Hartford Tuesday night as 33-year-old Jose Torres, of Douglas Street.
Torres was shot once in the chest at close range during an outdoor barbecue around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Police believe other guests may have witnessed the shooting.
He was pronounced dead at Saint Francis Hospital. It's the city's seventh homicide of the year.
Hartford Police Major Crimes detectives are investigating. It's not clear if police have identified a suspect.
