Heavy Snow Causes Partial Roof Collapse in New Haven

Several homes are without power at Newhall and Starr streets in New Haven after heavy snow caused part of a roof to collapse, bringing wires down with it.

The overhang at 55-57 Thompson Street caved in Thursday evening after a nor’easter dropped more than 9 inches of snow on the city.

Downed wires left five homes without power, and emergency crews are working to make repairs.

No one was injured and the building is structurally sound, according to authorities at the scene.
