Rabid Skunk Found in Plainfield

A dead skunk found in the Moosup section of Plainfield has tested positive for rabies, according to police.

Police said a dog found the skunk in its yard on Collelo Road the morning of Tuesday, April 29. Authorities took the skunk to a state laboratory in Rocky Hill, where the animal tested positive for rabies.

Residents are advised to avoid contact with wild animals and make sure pets are properly vaccinated.

Anyone who notices a wild animal acting strangely should contact Plainfield Animal Control at 860-564-8547 or Plainfield police at 860-564-0804.
