Pro-ISIS Hackers Hit U.S. Military Twitter, YouTube Accounts

Social media accounts for CENTCOM were hacked on Monday, and pro-ISIS messages were posted by the unknown hackers before the accounts were taken down, NBC News reported. For about 30 minutes Monday afternoon, the banner and profile images for CENTCOM's Twitter account were replaced with messages such as: "i love you isis." The feed included images of spreadsheets labeled as containing contact information and home address of retired U.S. Army generals, though defense officials said that none of the information posted was classified, and that some of it was out of date. "This is clearly embarrassing, but not a security threat," one Department of Defense official said. Two ISIS videos were also posted on CENTCOM's official YouTube channel, which was also hacked, NBC News confirmed. Just after 10 p.m. ET, CENTCOM's Twitter account tweeted, "We're back!" with a link to a press release on the incident.
