Clinton Adopts Key Piece of Sanders Student Debt Plan

Hillary Clinton on Wednesday announced a plan to make in-state public colleges and universities tuition free by 2021 for students from families who make less than $125,000 a year, NBC News reported.

Bernie Sanders made free in-state tuition a key part of his campaign, but Clinton's plan includes an income cap the Vermont senator did not have.

The plan would start by making in-state colleges and universities free for students from families making $85,000 a year or less. That income threshold would then climb by $10,000 a year until 2021, when in-state schools would be free to all families making $125,000 or less.

Clinton also announce a proposal to create a three-month moratorium on student loan payments to all federal borrowers and restoration of year-round Pell Grants, which would help students get funding for summer classes.

Sanders applauded Clinton's "very bold initiative" in a tweet.
