Woman Walking Dog in Woods Likely Froze to Death: Police

Authorities say a woman whose body was found in the woods in central Pennsylvania after she went on a walk with her dog likely died of hypothermia.

State police in Lancaster County say a neighbor saw 61-year-old Claudine Murphy of Brecknock Township walking her dog Saturday near her home, wearing a shirt with long sleeves but no hat or coat.

Police said she entered a wooded area near Hawk Valley Golf Course and was found dead at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday by a neighbor who heard a dog barking. Trooper Stephanie Trzaska said Murphy's dog had stayed with the body and was barking.

Police, who are treating the death as accidental, said a medical condition could have contributed to Murphy's death, but they didn't go into details. Toxicology tests in the case are pending.
