South Florida Teen Wears Black Lives Matter Prom Dress

When a dress designer approached 17-year-old Milan Bolden-Morris with a unique idea for her prom look, she decided to go for it.

Terrance Torrance approached her about wearing a Black Lives Matter dress that included pictures of Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice and Michael Brown.

"God created everybody on this Earth to be loved. All of this was with good intentions. I wanted to convey this message, and I was proud and blessed to be able to do that," Bolden-Morris said to WPTV, an NBC affiliate in Palm Beach.

Bolden-Morris knew friends would talk about her unique prom dress, but she didn't think it would go viral on social media. Her phone constantly rang on Monday with calls from friends and strangers. And Snoop Dogg took notice too, tweeting about her unique dress to help it go viral.

Trayvon Martin's mother even called to thank her.

Torrence told NBC News that Trayvon Martin's life story motivated his desire to design the clothing to make a statement.

"Trayvon was the leader of that movement. I feel that he kinda sparked the Black Lives Matter movement," Torrence told NBCBLK. "It was Trayvon's story that made me want to do this dress."

It took one week to make.

Bolden-Morris told WPTV the message is about peace, not violence.

"All lives matter and when anyone loses a family member or a child close to them under unnecessary circumstances, it's not fair," she said to WPTV.

Bolden-Morris is a senior at Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, but for the viral picture she was atteneding prom with a date at Pahokee High School.
