U.S. News & World Report Ranks CT High Schools

Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy in East Hartford is at the top of the list.

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Connecticut high schools and Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy in East Hartford is at the top of the list.

Schools are analyzed based on student-teacher ratio, college readiness and proficiency in math and reading. The public high school is ranked 14th overall for the United States.

Connecticut IB Academy prides itself on its rigorous pre-university curriculum and U.S. News & World Report focused in part on the fact that every student completes International Baccalaureate graduation requirements, which include academic and service components.

IB is an orgamization that works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment, according to the IB Web site. There are 11 IB World Schools in Connecticut.

The student-teacher ratio at CIBA is 13-to-1.   

The top 10 high schools, according to the ranking, are:

  • 2: Conard High School, West Hartford
  • 3: Ridgefield High School
  • 4: Weston High School
  • 5: Staples High School, Westport
  • 6: William H. Hall High School, West Hartford 
  • 7: Darien High School
  • 8: Wilton High School
  • 9: Simsbury High School
  • 10: Farmington High School
