Digs from late-night comedians, you might expect, but Attorney General Richard Blumenthal took a surprising dig on Wednesday from the vice president.
Vice President Joe Biden delivered the latest joke about the Democratic U.S. Senate candidate during a barbecue for wounded soldiers, according to the Hill.
"I didn't serve in Vietnam. I don't want to make a Blumenthal mistake here," he said, according to a pool report. "Our attorney general from Connecticut, God love him."
Blumenthal has been under fire for misstating his military service record, something that was reported by the New York Times, followed by many other news organizations.
Blumenthal says he unintentionally said he served "in" Vietnam when he meant "during" Vietnam. He later apologized.
Biden later said that he has "a bad habit of saying exactly what I think."
Blumenthal received five deferments before enlisting in the Marine Reserves and never served in Vietnam.
