Clinton: ‘Mistake' to Send Troops to Syria, Even If US Attacked

Hillary Clinton Thursday detailed her strategy for defeating ISIS, urging Congress to act on a new authorization of military force, and saying the U.S. and its allies should expand an air campaign against militants.

But the Democratic presidential candidate ruled out sending 100,000 ground troops to rout ISIS.

Pressed by moderator Fareed Zakaria during a talk to the Council of Foreign Relations in New York, Clinton said it would still be a "mistake" to send troops even if the U.S. were attacked.

She reiterated a call for no-fly zones to stop Syrian President Bashar Assad from attacking his own people, said there was a need for Turkey to be a full partner and not bomb Kurds in Syria, and called for Baghdad to embrace arming Sunni and Kurdish forces.
