Fedele's Campaign Funding's in Spotlight Again

Mike Fedele's public campaign funding is garnering more attention than the issues in the gubernatorial race.

The Connecticut Elections Enforcement Commission will meet on Wednesday morning and is expected to decide whether to grant the lieutenant governor an additional $312,500 in public financing for his campaign for governor.

On Tuesday, the state Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that Fedele can use money from the state's public campaign funding program for his campaign, upholding a lower court decision in favor of Fedele. Four different judges have now ruled on the matter.

Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, the Republican party's endorsed candidate, had tried to stop Fedele and his running mate, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, from spending more than $2 million in public campaign funds, saying they didn't legally qualify for the money.

Foley, Fedele and Hartford-area businessman Oz Griebel are running in the August 10th GOP primary.
