Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said he believes former Gov. John G. Rowland should be taken off his afternoon radio show in light of a new corruption scandal, but Rowland was on the air on Tuesday afternoon.
A former congressional candidate and her husband pleaded guilty on Monday in a scheme to set up a phony contract to hide a campaign role played by Rowland. Rowland has not been charged.
Malloy told reporters on Tuesday that he believes Rowland should not be allowed on his program with WTIC-AM.
Program Director Jenneen Lee said earlier on Tuesday that they were monitoring the situation closely and Rowland was expected back on the air on Tuesday afternoon.
He was and said he would not be discussing the federal probe.
The former candidate, Lisa Wilson-Foley, and her husband, Brian Foley, pleaded guilty in a scheme that authorities say involved creating a fictitious contract for work with Foley's nursing home company.
Rowland resigned as governor amid another scandal in 2004.
