Republicans vying for Governor squared off in a debate on NBC Connecticut.
The race for Governor kicked off on NBC Connecticut Thursday night.
Eight Republican candidates for the office took part in the first live, televised Governor's debate of the 2010 campaign.
The group included Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele, Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, President of the Metro Hartford Alliance Oz Griebel, former congressman Larry DeNardis, Chester First Selectman Tom Marsh, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Newington Mayor Jeff Wright and financial analyst C. Duffy Acevedo.
On a day when the latest Quinnipiac University poll showed 50 percent of Republican voters are still undecided, the debate gave the candidates a chance to sell themselves to the public.
The men stuck to their points, most favoring a reduction in spending, and not raising taxes when asked how to deal with the state's billion-dollar budget crisis. Each considered jobs a top priority for the state.
Six Democratic candidates for governor will participate in a debate on NBC Connecticut Friday at 7 p.m. The debate will also be streamed live on NBCConnecticut.com.
